Welcome to grow. The website for horticulture careers information.

  • Horticulture is where art, science, design and commerce meet – with challenging and rewarding careers no matter what your background or interests. (Credit: National Trust Picture Library – Paul Harris)
  • Parks and urban green spaces help cool temperatures, reduce wind speeds and absorb pollution and flood water.
  • Horticulture is creative, changes by the seasons and makes places interesting, vibrant and healthier.
  • A top-quality football pitch contains 150 – 200,000 leaf blades in every square metre. Every one of them needs skilled care and attention.
  • Nurturing a seed as it turns into a flower is watching a small miracle every day. Horticulture is full of magic and mystery.
  • 37 million people enjoy visiting and sitting under the 135,000 trees in London’s Royal Parks each year. All those trees need expert care and pruning.

College Details

Capel Manor College's centres across London are beautiful places to study with an inspirational atmosphere throughout the year.

Our east London centre is based in the Castle Green Centre in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.  Students benefit from extensive facilities including a library, IT suite, café, sports centre and children’s centre.

Our south London centre is based at Crystal Palace Park, in a small suite of rooms in the Jubilee Stand and on a practical plot within the park.

Our north London centre in Enfield is set in 32 acres of idyllic parkland, theme and wooded/wilderness gardens, plus water features and a range of trial gardens, sponsored by Garden Which? Students benefit from access to the Terrace Restaurant, Capel Manor Shop and to a range of resources in the library including books, journals, reference materials and ILT facilities.

Our west London Gunnersbury Park centre is one of the most popular and high profile centres of its type in the country, with practical facilities within the College’s walled garden.  The centre provides a library, computer suite, classrooms and student social area.

Our central London campus is located within the Inner Circle of Regent’s Park. The diverse range of plants and gardens here are valuable in supporting learning and improving plantsmanship.
Students have access to the highest quality of staff, teaching and technical support at all centres.

A full calendar of shows, events and activities are also offered to develop your skills and widen your interests.

All students 16-18 years old study Key Skills as part of their courses.

Those over 19 are encouraged to refresh and accredit their Key Skills alongside their vocational study.

Personal Tutors offer support and advice with your studies, and careers advice and guidance is available from the College’s Careers Advisor, supported by Connexions for 16-19 year-olds and the Nextstep service for adult learners.
